This week I started a 7 Day Technology Detox. The idea for this detox came from my friend, Amanda, at Raising daVinci. When Amanda mentioned it on a Periscope, I knew I had to be a part of it. The 7 Day Technology Detox blog party begins today at Raising daVinci.
It’s pretty simple and yet, insanely scary at the same time. I know I have a social media addiction. It has been pointed out that I may be attached to my phone and, more recently, my iPad. I’m not sure the root cause of this need to see what is going on in the world outside my home. Maybe it’s that I am a homeschool mom, and my life is somewhat contained to my family, that I have a strong need to be communicating with others in the great, big world of Facebook…or Periscope…or Instagram…or Pinterest…or (gasp) Twitter. But, whatever the cause, I need a detox.
I went through a Sugar Detox recently when I started the Trim Healthy Mama plan. I will admit that it was hard. In fact, I spent the first couple of weeks ready to throw the plan out the window. Giving up sugar was extremely hard, mostly because I had no idea I was that addicted to the white powdery goodness. But, after a few weeks, I was able to go without it. I’m hoping the social media addiction will be a habit I can kick as well.
So what is the 7 Day Technology Detox?
See, it’s not actually that hard. You get to set your own boundaries. Some of us have to use technology for work, so it’s not an option to go cold turkey for a week. But, a day? Yeah, I think I can pull that off.
Join me and let’s go on a 7 Day Technology Detox.
So, okay, I have to write a blog post about the detox this week, so technically I’m already detoxing. I’m on Day 5 and I’m finding it doable, but sometimes hard. If you think you need to detox from the outside world just a bit, then join me and my friends at Raising da Vinci. You can even get a really cool button! And, next week I’ll tell you about my success (or possibly, hopefully not) failure. See you IRL!

Hi, I’m Dachelle. I’m a homeschooling mom of 3 in the South. I love chocolate and have been known to hide it from my children. I can often be found reading a good book (or even sometimes just an okay book) and enjoying a jar of Nutella — don’t judge. I blog, here, at HideTheChocolate.com when I’m not creating book clubs and making lists…lots and lots of lists (it’s an addiction). Learn more…
