I’m always looking for ways to add a spark of enchantment to our homeschool. When I find something that not only inspires my children to learn while creating an atmosphere of fun, I can’t wait to add it to our homeschool routine. And, bonus points if it’s already laid out for me in an easy to follow format. This year I discovered the perfect course to add music to our homeschool that adds that spark of enchantment and complements our routine perfectly!
Adding Music to Our Homeschool
Music appreciation is an area in our homeschool that often takes the brunt of schedule changes. If something causes us to have to shift or completely remove a subject from our week, that subject is often an elective course like music. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m a huge lover of the arts and firmly believe that my children should appreciate them in all their forms. But, the truth is if something is going to get bumped, it’s not going to be a core subject like math. And, sadly, the arts will take the hit.
So, I need an easy way to add fine arts to our curriculum that gives my kids an appreciation and that they will enjoy. Music in Our Homeschool’s Music Lessons for Holidays and Special Days does just that. Each lesson includes:
- Information about a holiday or special day
- Videos of the music to listen to/ watch
- At least one printable
- An online quiz
The lessons are short, about 15 minutes, and are easy for my daughter to do independently. They are designed for elementary students, but my middle schooler is learning quite a bit. There are lessons for:
- New Years Day
- Epiphany (Day of the Kings)
- Martin Luther King Day
- Chinese New Year
- Groundhog Day
- Valentine’s Day
- President’s Day
- Dr. Seuss Day
- St. Patrick’s Day
- First Day of Spring
- April Fool’s Day
- Easter
- Earth Day
- International Jazz Day
- Star Wars Day
- Cinco de Mayo
- Mother’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Father’s Day

Adding Poetry AND Music to Our Homeschool
And, the best part of these lessons is how well they complement our Poetry Teatime ~ Holiday Edition course. We can combine holiday poetry teatime with holiday music lessons and easily add enchantment to our homeschool week.
Poetry Teatime ~ Holiday Edition gives you all the instruction you need to successfully lead an entire year of Poetry Teatimes with holiday themes. There are poems, activities, snack & tea ideas, and inspiring ways to decorate for every month. We even give you ideas for a simple poetry teatime when you are short on time or energy and ideas for a more enchanting teatime when you want to make it a day of fun activities.
Poetry Teatimes included are:
- Winter Poetry Teatime
- Valentine’s Poetry Teatime
- St. Patrick’s Day Poetry Teatime
- Spring Time Poetry Teatime
- Mother’s Day Poetry Teatime
- Father’s Day Poetry Teatime
- Summer Poetry Teatime
- Back-To-School Poetry Teatime
- Fall Poetry Teatime
- Halloween Poetry Teatime
- Thanksgiving Poetry Teatime
- Christmas Poetry Teatime

Combining these two courses is giving us the opportunity to celebrate the holidays with music and literature. But, the best part is that fine arts won’t be getting the boot this year when a holiday breaks up our week. This year we will be celebrating each holiday with flair and the kids won’t even notice that they are “doing school!”
Hi, I’m Dachelle. I’m a homeschooling mom of 3 in the South. I love chocolate and have been known to hide it from my children. I can often be found reading a good book (or even sometimes just an okay book) and enjoying a jar of Nutella — don’t judge. I blog, here, at HideTheChocolate.com when I’m not creating book clubs and making lists…lots and lots of lists (it’s an addiction). Learn more…
